Did you know orcas share salmon?
Did you know orcas share the individual salmon they catch with their families? This often observed behavior is called “prey sharing” and gives us some insight into the social lives of killer whales. Would you be willing to share some of your heard-earned prey with Whale Scout? Seattle’s biggest giving day is May 9th, but you can schedule a donation right now! All donations up to $2,000 will be DOUBLED thanks to a pod mate who pledged to share a big chunk of salmon with us! #SalmonForAll #givebig #
Our programs are making more baby salmon to grow up to become orca prey!
In the next year we will participate in at least eight more salmon habitat restoration events, plus more special opportunities!
Our boots-on-the-ground team completed the following over the last 12 months. Help us keep up the great work.
– Planted 1,366 trees in riparian zones near salmon streams
– Removed 150 of trash from shorelines
– Removed 80 cubic yards of invasive plants
– Spread 200 gallons of mulch
